No I am not dead…

only mostly dead, much like Wesley in The Princess Bride. If only a chocolate pill produced by Billy Crystal and Carol Kane would perk me up a bit. Over the last two months, I have been exhausted, a bit nauseous and everything smells funny. Until Monday night, I hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in ten weeks and barely had enough energy to make it through the work day. I was coming home so tired all I could do was stare at the wall, pet Cooper and maybe make dinner. All in all though, it will be worth it in the long run because if you have guessed by my list of symptoms….I’m pregnant!

Allen and I are officially expecting our first non-furry, fourlegged child. If all goes well, the newest member of our family should be making his or her appearance shortly after Thanksgiving and I am currently about 13 weeks along. Other than the horrendous insomnia (and by horrendous, I mean getting only 3-4 hours per night) I have actually been feeling pretty good. I have been able to keep my morning sickness managable with eating snacks more frequently and taking a B-6 supplement. Everything is progressing nicely. I had a sonogram last Wednesday and Baby S looks healthy. It is already showing a strong family resemblence, particularly in the nasal area and likes to suck on its hand/thumb just like my little sister. After my lastest OB visit on Monday, the doctor and I came up with a good option to help me sleep and so far it has been very effective. Although I am still tired, the last two days have been much more managable and I am actually starting to contemplate getting off of the couch:)

All of this tiredness has made a significant dent in my desire to stitch. Much of my stitching lately has been limited to my Neighborhood RR because of the obligation factor. I have made good progress and am more than halfway done. Slowly ut surely my stitching mojo seems to be coming back. Although I didn’t stitch for very long last night, it was much more enjoyable than it has been in a while and I found myself again thinking about some of those wonderful projects waiting for me in my WIP bin.

On that note, I guess I should actually eat on my lunch break. Hopefully this evening or tomorrow I will post some RR pics and a pic of the newest member of my little family:)

I know the feeling after carrying 4 children…2 of them twins…I understand COMPLETELY the tiredness, the insomnia…etc. It will get better soon…I always felt like a million bucks from like week 16 until 28-29…then it’s back to feeling tired, etc.

  41. Congratulations! I stumbled upon your blog while doing “market homework” (I own a craft & hobby shop) and just had to comment. One of our daughters presented the world with our first granddaughter just a month ago, born into a three-cat household. I wish you a smooth, healthy preganacy, and may your new child-rearing profession provide you with all of the considerable satisfaction and joy that we have enjoyed.

  42. Congrats ! That’s exciting news. :o)

  45. PS to my other post. If you want a great book about pregnancy then look out for “What to Expect when You’re Expecting”. I had loads of books and mags but this was the one that gave me more info and in plain English if you know what I mean. I loved it. My friend is now 30 weeks pregnant and has had my book since she found out. she uses it all the time. One I would really recommend for all the bits and pieces you don’t find out anywhere else.

  46. Congratulations on such fantastic news. Sorry I am so late in posting this, I am behind in blog reading.
