The weekend is over:( But it was a good one. All…

The weekend is over:(

But it was a good one. Allen and I just hung out all weekend. I did a lot of stitching, played some video games and did some good cooking. I am trying to get back into the habit of cooking better meals on a regular basis. Allen is often late for dinner, so it is sometimes hard to motivate myself to cook a “real” meal. I usually go the easy route and do simple post or a pre-prepared meal. Friday night I did a really yummy crockpot pork roast which we then made into barbecue type sandwiches for lunches. Saturday night I made a Coconut Curry chicken which was okay. It needed to be a bit more spicy.

On the stitching front, I got some good stitching done on the round robin I am working on and on my House Exchange. I will be done with them soon. Yay! I also started on this month’s section of Mystery 9. I finished one of the four corners. With all the time we are going to be out of town this month, I am not sure that I will be able to finish it this month. Unfortunately, I really want to keep my rotation in tact so this one may not get as much attention this month. September is relatively slow, so I should be able to make up the time then. So here is my first artichoke.

In other news, my birthday is right around the corner: August 20. I asked Allen to get me a new stitching stand as my gift this year. I got an Ergo stand by Artisan Designs. All I really wanted was the stand, but Allen also got me the matching chart holder. Considering my current set up, I was a bit skeptical about the chart stand at first, but it actually worked out well. I really like this stand because I can now lean my recliner back while I stitch. Much better for my legs as they don’t reach the ground and with my other stand I couldn’t even use a foot stool. It also will turn the piece around 360 degrees so I can tie off my threads more easily. The only problem is that I have to do a bit of a pretzel routine to get to my drinks on the table behind the chart holder. Here is a pic of my new toy in my stitching area. The black cart next to the couch has all of my WIPS and the stitching notions I use regularly (needles, beading thread, pens, etc).

  1. Pretty stitching on Mystery 9 and I love your stitching frame. I don’t use one, but if I did it would be one similar to yours.

  2. Nice stand! Great start on M9 – I haven’t even picked mine up yet – LOL!!!!!

  3. What an awesome birthday gift!

I need to start using my stand again… it makes stitching so much easier.

  4. That’s a great birthday gift; I’m sure you will enjoy using it when you are stitching!

    Have a good week!

  5. What a great gift for a stitcher! It’s a lovely stand. 🙂 Your Mystery 9 is looking very nice. I like the artichoke.

Your weekend sounds like mine. Except for the cooking. But I did bake two batches of muffins – does that count? 😉

  6. That looks like a great stand. I so want a chart holder. I have an ottlight and think they make one for it but the accessories can be pretty expensive. The artichoke looks great. Ann.

  7. What a fantastic birthday gift!! :o)

DH and I have the bad habit of doing a lot of take out, especially from our local Chinese restaurant. You know you do too much take out when the total over a month is about the same as a car payment for a really, really nice car!

It’s that sushi addiction of mine…

  8. What a great birthday gift! Enjoy using your new stand 🙂

  9. Happy Birthday! I love your stand but now I’m jealous because mine doesn’t have a drink holder. So I’m off to the website to see if they have an add-on for this! :o)

    Happy Monday!

  10. What a fabulous birthday gift!

Love your progress on mystery nine – it’s looking stunning. (nearly makes me wish I’d joined this group…)

  11. what a lovely bday pressie!

  12. Mystery 9 is looking stunning. And congrats on such a wonderful present too, Allen did GOOD! 🙂

  13. what a cool stand Leslie, looks like you’ll be all set for a good stitching marathon there 🙂

enjoy the rest of your week.

  14. Your mystery is looking fantastic and I’m very envious of your lovely stitching corner. Enjoy your gift!

  15. What a great stand! Beautiful birthday gift 🙂 You’ve been doing some lovely stitching lately. The Potager du Roi is turning out so well – and so are Fairy Flora and White Wedding 🙂

  16. Happy Blog-anniversary : D Happy Birthday : D

I’m green with envy; your stand is awesome. After you use it awhile, please post again & let us know how you like it.

I have a lap stand that I use on my desk (with a weight) and often wondered if I’d like that style of stand.

btw, Summer Reading is so much fun. My favorite read this Summer has to be Water for Elephants. I really enjoyed that one.
