Just a quick post now that the munchkin is gone off to bed to share my most recent stitching progress.
I am now about 3/4 done with German Garden. I really like the bottom half of this piece. It has some neat specialty stitches.

Over the weekend I spent some time working on Nathaniel’s birth sampler. I am now mostly done with bands 8-10. All that is left in those bands are the bees and ladybugs, but I think I am going to save all of them until last so I only have to pull out the detailed charts once.

In other news, our cat Cooper is now Internet-famous. Allen got a great picture of him several weeks ago. He added a cute caption and submitted it to icanhascheezburger.com After several weeks of thinking that it wasn’t a cool enough picture, we went to the site and who was at the top of the page…Cooper. If you like cute cat/animal pictures, visit the site. As of today, Cooper’s Dramatic Cat picture has moved to page two, but check him out. I think the fame is going to his head though. He asked if we could call him an agent!!!

The weeks just seem to be flying by lately. Not surprising since the munchkin keeps me very busy these days. This past weekend we went to Richmond to visit some of Allen’s family. Nathaniel finally got to meet Allen’s brother and sister-in-law along with Allen’s grandparents. They were so excited to meet their first great-grandson. Since Nathaniel spent the majority of the weekend being held by his other relatives, I was able to get in a fair amount of stitching. Since none of my current WIPs are particularly portable, I decided to start one of the coffee and tea kits by Little House Needleworks and Crescent Colors. I plan on stitching all six and hanging them in our breakfast nook. I finished most of Spiced Tea over the weekend and put the finishing touches on it tonight. I ended up adding a bit of backstitching around the cup because the ecru silk blended in too much when looking at it from far away. Otherwise I am pleased with how it turned out and look forward to stitching the rest of the series. If the snow clears up a bit tomorrow, I plan on slipping out while Allen takes his day off to shop for a frame

I have also done a ton on German Garden since I last posted a picture, but apparently my little camera “forgot” that I took a picture of it. Our old point and shoot camera still works, but has developed some severe dementia since Nathaniel was born. It will randomly have memory card errors or delete pictures that you have taken. Oh well…for the moment it is still a bit easier than using the fancy new camera when I am trying to upload to my laptop until we figure out why I can’t access photos on our network. Well, I hope everyone is having a fantastic week. I am off to upload pictures to build a photo album for Allen’s grandparents and then maybe work on a motif for Alchemical Romance. Yippee!

Since Allen got his new camera, I have been having some serious issues with getting pictures to upload to the blog. For some reason the camera does not want to upload pics onto my lap top and our network will not let me access them off Allen’s computer. I now have to go through a long process to get them here:)
It has been a busy week. Allen and I had a quiet, but pleasant New Year and Nathaniel witnessed his first New Year count down. Then he had a busy week with two doctor’s appointment. The first was with the pediatric cardiologist. Shortly after he was born, one of our pediatricians heard a heart murmur and made a referral for a full work up. He did have a murmur and a normal hole in his heart. It was nothing to worry much about, but they wanted to see him again at one month. Things have improved significantly and they can barely hear the murmur any more. Hopefully we will have just one more follow up at six months to see if the hole has closed any. After that, Nathaniel went to his regular pediatrician for his one month check up. He is a healthy little guy and is now topping the scales at 10 pounds, 3 ounces. Not surprising as he eats 7-8 six ounce bottles every day. He is well into his 3-6 month old clothes. Here are a few cute pics.

I have been stitching as well since the new year. If you will remember, I noted in my last post that I would be starting Alchemical Romance as my guilt-free January. I have been unable to put it away to work on other project since then and I am now almost a quarter finished. Here it is a few days ago.

And last to remind them that they are still much loved, some adorable pictures of the kittens. Here is a wonderful picture of Zoe. Miraculously she is in focus.

And this wonderful picture of “Evil Cooper” that Allen caught just by chance the other day:)

So here is my progress so far on Butterfly Rest. During the first weekend we were home after Nathaniel was born, Allen’s dad came to visit. Granddad spent most of the weekend cuddling Nathaniel, so I was under strict orders that I should be cross stitching as much as I could. This is the fruit of that weekend. I am really proud of how much progress I have made on this.

Now I am off to work some more on my guilt free New Year’s start, Alchemical Romance. I have already finished two symbols…YEAH!!!! I am really enjoying this one:)
And I shall leave you with a Happy New Year’s wish from Nathaniel. Don’t you just love the hair!!! I am not quite sure what to do with his crazy hair:)
