No I am not dead…

May 23, 2007

only mostly dead, much like Wesley in The Princess Bride. If only a chocolate pill produced by Billy Crystal and Carol Kane would perk me up a bit. Over the last two months, I have been exhausted, a bit nauseous and everything smells funny. Until Monday night, I hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in ten weeks and barely had enough energy to make it through the work day. I was coming home so tired all I could do was stare at the wall, pet Cooper and maybe make dinner. All in all though, it will be worth it in the long run because if you have guessed by my list of symptoms….I’m pregnant!

Allen and I are officially expecting our first non-furry, fourlegged child. If all goes well, the newest member of our family should be making his or her appearance shortly after Thanksgiving and I am currently about 13 weeks along. Other than the horrendous insomnia (and by horrendous, I mean getting only 3-4 hours per night) I have actually been feeling pretty good. I have been able to keep my morning sickness managable with eating snacks more frequently and taking a B-6 supplement. Everything is progressing nicely. I had a sonogram last Wednesday and Baby S looks healthy. It is already showing a strong family resemblence, particularly in the nasal area and likes to suck on its hand/thumb just like my little sister. After my lastest OB visit on Monday, the doctor and I came up with a good option to help me sleep and so far it has been very effective. Although I am still tired, the last two days have been much more managable and I am actually starting to contemplate getting off of the couch:)

All of this tiredness has made a significant dent in my desire to stitch. Much of my stitching lately has been limited to my Neighborhood RR because of the obligation factor. I have made good progress and am more than halfway done. Slowly ut surely my stitching mojo seems to be coming back. Although I didn’t stitch for very long last night, it was much more enjoyable than it has been in a while and I found myself again thinking about some of those wonderful projects waiting for me in my WIP bin.

On that note, I guess I should actually eat on my lunch break. Hopefully this evening or tomorrow I will post some RR pics and a pic of the newest member of my little family:)

A slightly better start to May

May 6, 2007

So, I have been a bit more in a stitchy mood so far in May. I have been a bit busy, but I at least am starting to feel like I am making progress again.

To start off the week, I pulled out my Bordeaux Sampler again. I really did make progress on it, even though it might not look like it. Tons of green backstitching and a multitude of Rhodes grapes.

I also spent some time on Wednesday stitching on Stargazer. I didn’t make any visible progress on her this past week so I didn’t bother with a pic. I hope to make a bunch of progress this week as I really enjoyed working on her again.

Then over the weekend, I spent my time getting a start on my Neighborhood Round Robin. I really hate basting, so I have been doing a little at a time and it really drains my stitching energy. I did manage to baste one whole block so that I could at least make a start on my portion of the piece. I chose to do the house and tree from Lady Scarlet by Lilybet Designs. Here is my meager start. Now that I am finished with Barnabee, Friday nights are going to be reserved for Round Robins and Exchanges. I will have very busy Fridays as my neighborhood has to be mailed on June 1 and I have a birthday exchange and our Dragon RR due to go out on July 1. I had better get stitching:)

Here is my start on Lady Scarlet. My RR is stitched on 40 ct Creme Brulee linen by R and R Reproductions. It is an absolutely stunning color.
