Bad blogger:(

I have been rather bad about my blogging lately. I am not quite sure. It has been a busy week at work and by the time I get home, I barely have energy to stitch. Well, school is winding down so hopefully things will be getting back to normal a bit at work.

As for the weekend, it was quite a relaxing one. Allen and I relaxed Saturday and ended the day by going out to dinner and to see the DaVinci Code. We both enjoyed the movie, but I think it helped that we had both read the book before hand. Otherwise, we might have been a bit lost. (BTW, Cooper just stopped by to purr everyone hello and ask for a belly rub! Please pardon any sloppiness as I type and pet the cat at the same time)

Sunday, poor Allen went to work and I stayed home and stitched. I worked on my Friendship Exchange, so unfortunately I cannot share pics yet. I am really enjoying the particular piece I have stitched. It is not something I would stitch for myself at this point in my life, but it is perfect for my partner. We also watched Star Trek: Nemesis…a good movie if you like Star Trek… and King of New York. Allen got it through Netflix primarily because it has Christopher Walken in it. I would not recommend renting it, even though David Caruso does get shot at the end.

Today, Allen and I got some good work done around the house. We finally moved into our master bedroom after a year of halted renovations. Our sitting area is also full of bookshelves and books are in the process of being put away. Yeah, our house is finally coming along. After that we sat down to dinner and watched Bridge over the River Kwai. A pretty good war epic if you can make it through without making Ben Kenobi/Star Wars jokes throughout the flick. After dinner I pulled out M9 and got almost done. Just a few queen stitches and I am done for May. Just in time for June’s piece:) (Okay, blogger is being mean about uploading pics and it is time to go to bed. I will share tomorrow after work)

My baby sister is married!!!

Everything went off without a hitch this weekend. Becca’s wedding was beautiful and everyone had a wonderful time. Despite what a great time it was, I am glad it is over…very stressful. Then after all the craziness of the weekend, Allen decided that we were going to replace all outlets in out bedroom today. It took us the rest of the afternoon. We just sat down for a late night snack and relax time before bed. Hopefully, Iwill be able to do a little stitching tonight.

I will leave you with a few pics from last night…

Here is my mom and I.

And then the beautiful bride, Becca.

And last, but not least, my sweet husband, Allen.

Not much stitching this week. I have been too busy fretting over the bedroom and Becca’s upcoming wedding. I did spend a fair amount of time working on my RR. I am hoping to have my part done pretty soon. I am debating whether to work on this or Part 5 of M9 on Sunday when I get home from Annapolis. I am definitly looking forward to the three day weekend for Memorial Day. I have a bunch of home stuff to do now that our bedroom is painted, but one day will be completely donated to stitching. I am hoping that over that weekend I can finish my RR, start my friendship exchange and work on Celtic Winter. I will be kitting up my Exchange at some point during the week.

Now off to bed so that I can be nice and rested for all the wedding festivities this weekend. Tomorrow is lunch, nails and the Rehersal dinner. Then the all day affair of the wedding on Saturday. I am getting my hair done at 9am…I am not sure how I am going to stand being all made up ALL day.

So, it was a good stitching weekend…

After having my hair cut and highlighted Saturday morning, I was a good girl and got some good housework done. I got most of the master bedroom cleaned for the painters in the morning and then tackled the kitchen. After that I finished my book (needs to get to mom next weekend) and then got to stitching. I did about two hours on White Wedding and here is my progress so far…

After Allen got home from Saturday work, he and I had a really yummy grilled chicken and then I sat down to an evening of marathon stitching. I finished one of my two triangles on Mystery 9 and did a huge chuck of the first block on my RR. I did realise, however, that I was missing one of the GAST threads that I needed to do the walk up to my house. I had to place a quick order today to get that….oh well.

Here is an upclose of M9. The bottom triangle is this months part.

And here is my RR.

Today, I continued on these two projects and also spent some time searching for the perfect piece to stitch for my partner in the Friendship Exchange on SBEBB. I think I have come up with a good choice for Melanie. Now it is time to find the right fabric and kit it up. Hopefully she will like it.
Now it is time to go sleepy. In the morning, I will be doing some kitty wrangling because the painters will be in the house. Hopefully I will survive the wrangling unscathed:) Cooper is wriggly and Zoe turns into a tornado with claws.

Another beautiful day… Today was another lovely…

Another beautiful day…

Today was another lovely day in the DC area. It was increadibly hard to be inside all day for meetings and a conference, but at least the mandatory conference I went to was really good. Once a year, one of the county agencies that school personnel makes referrals to has a big policy update conference that school social workers have to attend. Last year this conference was an all day horrible bore of an affair. They speaker they brought preached that their model of intervening with at risk kids was best, but did not speak to making their model feasible in a Very large community. Their model was successful in a small rural community where each case manager had a case load of like four or five kids. If only!! This year, we had to go through the standard bore of updating things like fiscal policy and referral process changes, but then they had a speaker who addressed issues of taking care of the caregivers and anger management. Not only did he present some very thoughtful information on both topics, but he was dynamic, engaging and extremely humourous. It was nice to leave the conference at noon with some new thoughts on how to address my angry little first grade student next week when I see him.

Over the last two nights I spent a lot of time working on Celtic Winter. I am making really good progress. I am not going to tempt fate by saying I will finish her this month, but a finish is not too far down the road. YEAH!!! My plan of attack is to finish the right hand boarder, then the rows across the top and work my way down the left border. Then I will do the beading from the bottom up since she does not quite all fit vertically in my qsnap. That way I can just leave the bottom snap off as I move up the piece to bead. So here she is so far…

Tonight, I plan on being good and pulling out white wedding and stitching a bit on my RR. I figure if I put a thread or two into my RR a night, I will easily have it done by the June 15 deadline. Tomorrow, I have to get some cleaning done in our master bedroom as the painters are finally coming on Monday. It will be so nice to have that done. Then it is off to have my hair highlighted before my sisters wedding (one week left:)) and then time to put some good stitching into Mystery 9. If I can get part 5 mostly done tomorrow, I will have all of Memorial day weekend to work on other stuff:) Sunday, I would like to work a bit on my lilies and pick a piece to stitch for Melanie, my partner in the Friendship Exchange.

Just a quick update on the past weeks stitching……

Just a quick update on the past weeks stitching…

Here is Celtic Winter, I added the backstich on her face this evening.

And then I picked up Woodland Fairy. I think I am going to alternate between the plain DMC and the sparkly Kreinik so there is always something fun to do. I am not sure that you can see what I did on the left side of her skirt (by her knee) this evening. It is a very pale yellow and gets washed out with the flash.

And then while watching CSI: Miami(Boy do I hate Horatio Cane), I stitched on my RR.

Now it is time to relax before bed…g’nite!!

May 8, 2006

Well, it has been a week since my last post and apparently I have starved my sweet husband of reading materials on his break.

Over the last week, I have been feeling a bit under the weather. It has been that icky in-between sick where I was not sick enough to stay home from work, but I felt bad enough to not want to do much of anything when I got home from work. After going to my sister’s bachlorette party on Saturday night in Ocean City, I think the cold/flu finally caught hold for real. I slept for several hours when I got home yesterday felt so icky, I stayed home today. Hopefully I will finally feel better soon.

On the stitching front, I did get some done this week, although I didn’t stick to my rotation. Later tonight i will post my progress on Celtic Winter, my RR and Free as the Wind ornament. I intend to do a better job of sticking to my rotation this week:)

Last Thursday, I received a lovely package in the mail from Cathy. It contained the Beginner’s Exchange that I had joined on The Exchange Place. She stitched a lovely hardanger welcome heart in a soft pale green. It is absolutely lovely. She also included two adorable patterns, notepads and a great retractible measuring tape (I needed one)!! Thanks Cathy!!

And here is my stitching progress from the weekend…

I did get the GAST threads that I needed for my Round Robin and got started on it Saturday. I am stitching the Summer house sampler by Lizzie Kate. Here is the most recent pic…I have done a bit more on the roof though.

I also worked some on White Wedding on Saturday. I should be done with page two by the end of the week…finally. Of course I forgot to take a pic of it.

Then yesterday and today I worked on Woodland Fairy. Her wings are going to look so pretty. I love the colors of krenik that were used. With the green I added on the right I am only about thirty stitches from the top of the chart.
