What a lazy weekend… I didn’t get much done aro…

What a lazy weekend…

I didn’t get much done around the house like I shoul have. Poor Allen is still really sick:( I am actually surprised that he hasn’t been sick before this considering the major surgery he had in November. I spent much of the weekend trying to keep him comfortable and that meant I had a hard time getting into any chores that I couldn’t stop easily or would wake him up. Oh well, some of that will just have to get done during the week as I think MIL will probably be coming up next Saturday since she couldn’t make it up this week.

Despite taking care of my little sick bear, I did get a fair amount of stitching done since today we sat on the couch and watched movies. I am almost finished with the stitching on the first of my two Spring exchanges and got to about the half way point on Four Little Hearts by Indigo Rose. Here is my progress so far on that one.

After working on Four Little Hearts, I was good and brought out the piece I should be working on on Sundays….Lilies as part of the Magazine Mania SAL on Friends Gather BB. This is the first time I have worked on this in a while, but I am proud of what I got done today. Take a look:)

Latest progress on Celtic Winter…
Today I almost finished the skirt of CW and started some on the right hand border. I am so pleased with the progress I have made this month. The skirt will definitly be finished on Wednesday, which is the next time I will pick this one up, YEAH!!

Just a quick post with my latest progress on White Wedding. This is what I have completed as of Thursday night.

Today, I have spent some time working on my Exchanges and a bit on Four Little Hearts Freebie. I am also going to try and get a bit more work in on Celtic Winter before the next section of M9 comes out on Wednesday. Then it will be back to that on Saturdays for awhile:) I will post pics later if my poor hubby isn’t feeling to badly…he’s got a toad in his nose:(

My Olympic potential and a meme…

Here is my ideal sport for the Olympics…I am not surprised by what the questionnaire generated:)

You Are Curling

What you lack in athleticism, you make up for in concentration.
And while curling isn’t much more of a sport than bowling, you *can* win a gold medal for it!

And here is this weeks Blogging through Thursday…
Collecting authors
Today’s questions were suggested by Cate.

1. Are you currently collecting any authors? Why?I guess this is a bit of an understatement for me. I collect many historical mystery authors including Ellis Peters, PC Doherty, Peter Tremayne, Susanna Gregory, Lindsay Davis….(also Harry Potter:))
2. Do you have all of their books? If not, why not? For some of these authors I have all that they have published to this date (at least between my mom and I) Other authors, like PC Doherty, I only have some because they can be hard to find in the US. If I really enjoy an author, I would love to be able to have all in their series. I tend to want to keep them all instead of donating or selling them because they were sometimes so hard to find.
3. Did you buy all the books in the collection at the same time, or did you buy a book here, a book there? I typically buy as they are released or piecemeal in the case of older books in the series.
4. Have you actually read all the collection? If not, why not? I have read all 20 Brother Cadfael books by Ellis Peters, but have not seen any but one in the last few years (where are you Brother Cadfael…did you get lost in the move???) I have also read an entire series up to the current release by the following authors….Susanna Gregory and Kathy Lynn Emerson. I am close to current with series by Peter Tremayne, Steven Saylor, Margaret Frazier, Sharan Newman and others.

February 23, 2006

Well, I didn’t do what I was supposed to do in terms of stitching, but I did stitch. Today, Allen had an endoscopy (no esophegous damage, so yeah!) and I brought a ton of stitching with me. I was able to get about half way done with one of my spring exchanges and about a quarter done with a really pretty freebie I got from Stitching Bits and Bobs. I can’t show my exchange, but I can show my progress on Four Heart freebie from Indigo Rose…

Sorry the pic is so bad. I will try and get a better pic as I make some progress. The Rhodes heart on the side was a bit difficult to figure out with the counting though.

And on another cute kitty note, here is my adorable little Zoe. Daddy made her very, VERY angry the other night by sticking her under the binky on the couch.

“I dance on your bladder later, daddy”-Zoe

Finally a progress pic…

This weekend, I stitched on Celtic Winter for the Stitch-a-thon weekend on the Friends Gather BB. I think I made some amazing progress. I am almost completed her skirt and started a bit on her sleeve and the right hand border. Tomorrow night, I will pull out White Wedding and then back to CW on Wednesday. I really hope to be able to finish these two by April:)

I also spent part of the evening kitting up two Spring Exchanges. I will be spending some time during the day stitching on them.

And now for the cute…

This afternoon while I was watching the gold medal women’s hockey game on tv, Cooper took a nice, long 4 hour nap on the couch with me. He was all curled up in a blanket and I just had to take a picture. Of course he decided this was the perfect time to yawn and so this is what I got…

I eventually got a nice pic of my sleepy baby. He is so cute:)

What a busy weekend…. Saturday, Allen and I did …

February 20, 2006

What a busy weekend…. Saturday, Allen and I did some intense cleaning. Since we didn’t have dining room furniture, the dining room had been a kind of storage area for some of the things that were waiting for a home in our bed room when it was finished. Next weekend, my MIL is being kind enough to donate her dining room to our cause (Thank you!!). It took a while to clear it all out and later today, my mission is to give the hardwood floors a deep clean. It should be happy to be used for its intended purpose in the near future:)

Yesterday was another intensely busy day…it was my little sister’s bridal shower. I am the matron of honor, so I organized it with her maid of honor. We had a really great time, but boy was it tiring. There were about 35 ladies there and everyone was very lively. I think the crowning moment of the afternoon was the toilet paper bridal gown contest. What a laugh!!!

February 17, 2006

The last few days at work have been really draining. I am running this weeks intensive drug and alcohol education and insight program. By the time I have gotten home at night, I haven’t felt much like stitching let alone blogging. I have made some progress on my stitching over the last few days. Tuesday I stitched on White Wedding, which will come out again tonight as we watch Survivor. Last night I stitched on Celtic Winte, but didn’t make much progress. I think I am going to work on that one this Saturday…YEAH!!

Sunday night, we also had a very funny experience with poor Zoe. We were just hanging out in the family room when all of a sudden there is a huge racket going on upstairs. Zoe then comes hurtling down the stairs, looking about three times her normal size. She comes to a screetching halt in the kitchen and start swatting at something behind her. I go up to see what is going on and there is Zoe cowering under the table with a huge piece of packing tape stuck to her butt. Apparently, she sat on it and then thought that she was being chased by it. When we finally caught up with her, her poor little heart was about to burst. Allen had to pin her down as we tried to remove the HUGE piece of tape from her behind. I felt so bad for her. I just happened to have he camera out and here is a pic of my sweet Zoe, upside down with her tape butt.

February 13, 2006

Yesterday I participated in a 24 hour challenge on the Friends Gather BB. I stitched an ornament from the 2003 JCS ornament magazine. Here is the finished product.

Allen and I also spent a long time shoveling snow this morning. It looked like we had about a foot, plus the giant wall of ice created by the snow plow that went through. Tonight, we wait to see if Loudoun County will close schools tomorrow. They are always the last ones…what a pain. I want to know if I can wear jeans to work tomorrow:)

Snow… And just when I thought the weather man w…

Snow…

And just when I thought the weather man was going to be wrong again, it started to snow. It was supposed to start snowing this morning, but it didn’t really get going in our area until about 3 in the afternoon. Now it has really picked up and is starting to stick to the road. I guess we will be shoveling the driveway in the morning:)

Despite the fact that it wasn’t really snowing today…Allen decreed that it was a snow day and we were just going to relax. (I did do the dishes though). So I got out my books of floss and my JCS ornament magazines and went hunting for something to work on for the 24 hour challenge on the Friends Gather BB. I finally decided on Woodland Snowfall by Little House Needleworks from 2003. I am about a third of the way through and hopefully will have a finished pic for tomorrow.

Earlier today, I also spent some time working on White Wedding. On Thursday, I finished page 1 and moved on to a row motif that went across the middle of page 2. Since I didn’t finish it Thursday, I decided to finish it today. Since May is right around the corner, I think I am going to replace Olde World Map with this one at least every other Tuesday so that I know I will get it done. (BTW, Cooper says hi to everyone and gave my computer a big old kiss:))

Last night I only worked a little bit on my Butterfly Night. I progressed a little bit more on the big blue triangle of doom. It is a lot less intimidating than when I stitched the companion piece. I am hoping to finish this triangle next Friday night.

And now for a meme:

Vacation reading

  1. How many books do you usually take with you on vacation? Too many? Too few? Do you still have room to pack clothes? I usually take too many books when I go on vacation, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Especially if I am going somewhere where I might not find a bookstore. I love to read on the beach (our primary vacation choice) so I need to have plenty.
  2. What kind of books do you read on vacation? I usually bring light mysteries with me when we go away. It is usually more practical to bring a small paperback mystery than some of my other hardbound books. It is also vacation and although I enjoy reading history books, it is still vacation. I did read I, Claudius in the Bahamas a few years ago…not exactly light reading:)
  3. Do you read the same kind of books when you’re on vacation as when you’re at home? For the most part it is the same stuff. I like to know that when I am on vacation I have things I know I will enjoy so I tend to bring authors I know.
